Pita Pizza RecipeThis recipe is a fantastic and healthy alternative to traditional pizza.  It’s also great if you’re on a diet because it fulfills your pizza craving while being much lower in calories.

Feta & Hummus Pita Bread Pizza Recipe

Tools:

  • Slap Chop (link & pic)
  • Ingredients:
  • 2 Whole Wheat Pita Bread Rounds
  • 8 ounces of hummus (regular or whatever kind you like)
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ½ cup tomato (chopped)
  • ½ cup cucumber (chopped)
  • 1/8 cup sliced red onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Once heated place the plain pitas on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 3-5 minutes (until it’s lightly toasted).

Take pitas out of the oven.  Spread hummus evenly over each pita leaving a little bit of plain pita showing around the edges.  Coat the edges of each pita lightly with olive oil.  Crumble feta evenly over each pita and bake for 7 minutes (until thoroughly cooked).  Remove from oven and top with tomato, onion and cucumber, and enjoy!
