The Rundown:

The Keeper Sweeper is a new multi-purpose cleaning system designed to take on almost any cleaning task in your home. It comes equipped with four different types of cleaning pads and claims it is the only cleaning system that enables you to clean every surface from floor to ceiling.

The handle on the Sweeper elongates enabling you to clean and dust hard to reach places more easily and the Sweeper head is easily removable mop and allows one to clean horizontal surfaces like windows, mirrors, walls, and cabinets with the same product.  All the cleaning pads are machine washable, reusable and reversible meaning you won’t have to replace them like other similar light mopping products out there.

The four Sweeper pads are are the Terry Floor Mop Pad, Scrubber Mop Pad, Chenille Duster Pad, and a Glass cleaning Pad.  PLUS they throw in; another set of four pads (totaling eight), two glass shining towels and two polishing towels, to sweeten the deal.

The Real Deal:

We really couldn’t really find much not to like about The Keeper Sweeper here  The mop and scrub pads definitely keep pace with similar products, and then the duster and glass cleaner  pushes its value about other sweepers out there.  I personally was hoping for a little stronger handle, as I’m not a small individual and am pretty tough on these things when scrubbing out trouble messes, but the durability is in line with other products I have used that cost more, so really no complaint there.  I was worried that the ‘easy detaching’ head would come off too easily while being used as a floor scrubber, but I didn’t have any problems with it coming off myself.  The duster worked well as did the glass pad, but one must remember not to use an excessive amount of water when cleaning glass, to avoid water spots and such, or even use a glass cleaning product for even better results.

The Verdict:

I personally liked this product a lot.  It did what it said it would and kept pace with, if not surpassed, similar products.  Plus the ‘bonus’ items were pretty useful as well, which isnt always the case with as seen onTV products.  All of these factors, in combination with decent pricing, make it a winner in my book.  I’m putting a stamp of approval on the the Keeper Sweeper, and would take this product over a Swiffer any day of the week.  It is slightly more work for the wet mopping but Keeper Sweeper is a much more durable, versatile, and reusable product.

There has been a lot of buzz about the Pajama Jeans because they are pajama bottom fabric pants that look like they are a pair of jeans. To live a healthy, organic and green way of life a great idea is to plant your own garden to grow veggies, herbs, etc.  With your own personal garden, not only are you able to eat fresh, organic foods straight from your yard, but you are contributing to cleaner air.  However, for many people who live in an apartment or condo they may not have the room to actually plant their own garden.

Jack LaLanne, who may best known these days for his immensely successful infomercial product the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer, passed away at the age of 96 this past Sunday.  Jack LaLanne has been heralded as the founder of modern fitness.  Beginning in 1936 when he opened his own gym complete with a juice bar and health food shop, Jack never stopped preaching about the importance of a good diet and plenty of exercise for people of all ages.

Jack explained he grew up as an unhealthy and unhappy kid, but that his life was forever changed at 15 after sitting in on a speech about proper diet.  From then on Jack made it his mission to be as healthy and fit as possible and to help others do the same.

His life is marked by innumerous accomplishments including licensing his chain of gyms to Bally’s, launching a successful nationwide TV show and swimming from Alcatraz to Fisherman’s wharf handcuffed and shackled tugging a 1,000 lb boat at the age of 60! Just to name a few.  Jack will be remembered for his devotion to good health and his mission of helping people help themselves.  He is survived by his wife Elaine, son Jon and daughter Yvonne.

At the end of November 2010, Weight Watchers announced their biggest change in 13 years, the Points Plus program. Points Plus is a remake of the points formula that puts a higher focus on “friendly nutrition” with the hopes that it will lead to more effective weight maintenance for the millions of Weight Watchers members and all future members.

This new plan is not just another fancy name or marketing gimmick. The essence of the Points Plus plan is to dramatically change the way the whole point formulation works, which currently assigns different amounts of points to foods based on their carb, fiber, protein and fat content.

For those of you who love Fruit, you will love the new system as it encourages the consumption of fruits due to their health benefits. On the other hand “simple carbohydrates” like pasta and potatoes will be assigned negative values due to their high calorie and insulin spiking properties.

In general protein and fiber are positively valued (much like before) while carbs and fats will be negatively values. In the hopes that people will be eating more healthy choices as opposed to simply eating less food but choosing the less-healthy options.

Not only is the new Weight Watchers Point Plus program a better formulation change but also a better approach to healthy eating and food valuation.

This recipe is a fantastic and healthy alternative to traditional pizza.  It’s also great if you’re on a diet because it fulfills your pizza craving while being much lower in calories.

Feta & Hummus Pita Bread Pizza Recipe

Tools:

• Slap Chop (link & pic)
• Ingredients:
• 2 Whole Wheat Pita Bread Rounds
• 8 ounces of hummus (regular or whatever kind you like)
• ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
• ½ cup tomato (chopped)
• ½ cup cucumber (chopped)
• 1/8 cup sliced red onion
• 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Once heated place the plain pitas on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 3-5 minutes (until it’s lightly toasted).

Take pitas out of the oven.  Spread hummus evenly over each pita leaving a little bit of plain pita showing around the edges.  Coat the edges of each pita lightly with olive oil.  Crumble feta evenly over each pita and bake for 7 minutes (until thoroughly cooked).  Remove from oven and top with tomato, onion and cucumber, and enjoy!
